The widely spoken language is Goalpariya, but along with the Goalpariya people also speak other dialects of Assamese, Bengali, Hindi, Garo, Rabha, etc. But most of the people use Goalpariya as a common language for daily transaction and communication.
Mostly inhabited by the Rajbongshi people, Goalpariya language, a dialect of Assamese, is widely spoken by the people residing in this place. It was once a princely state ruled by the Rajbongshi / Koch Rajbongshi kings. Presently, the royal family resides in Goalpara itself.
Goalpara is the capital of Goalpara District, Assam, India.
