ABVP Calls Academic Bandh Today in Protest Against Alleged Assault by Left Student Groups

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has called for an academic strike across Kerala to protest the alleged violence by Left-affiliated student organizations. The student body is demanding swift justice for victims of campus assaults and urging the immediate implementation of the PM SHRI (PM Schools for Rising India) scheme in the state. ABVP alleges that educational institutions in Kerala are increasingly becoming unsafe for students with differing political ideologies and claims that the ruling government is turning a blind eye to repeated incidents of violence. The bandh aims to highlight deteriorating campus safety and push for reform in academic spaces. In addition to condemning the Left student groups’ actions, ABVP is also pressing the state government to cooperate with the central initiative of PM SHRI, which aims to modernize and improve school infrastructure and learning outcomes. ABVP leaders have stated that student voices demanding safe, inclusive, and politically neutral campuses cannot be silenced. The strike is expected to impact academic operations across schools and colleges in Kerala, with protests and rallies scheduled in major districts. Authorities have urged all stakeholders to maintain peace and ensure that student interests remain protected. The ABVP reaffirmed that this movement is a stand against political violence and a call to bring educational reforms that reflect equality and national values.
